316 km² of Malta

I was talking about the idea of going to Malta since March, when we didn't know what we have wanted to do while long weekend in May. Happily, we chose Toruń that time, because three days in Malta would be too short. Even 7 days weren't enough! We didn't expect this small country to be that cozy. (My mum is even thinking of going back there again.)

We were at the airport in Gdańsk after 2pm. We got there by car which my mum parked at the parking area called "Holiday". Actually there are many of them near the airport. Our plane was  delayed, but only 20 minutes. The flight was 150 minutes long. At 11pm we were alredy in Malta, where the bus from this page was waiting for us. It costed us only  4€ per person, but we had to book it a day before. I can recommend an Europa hotel where we were staying for our whole trip. But we had a little surprise, because most of the rooms had a window for the hole between buildings, so next day we asked if we could change the room. We had to pay few € extra but it was worth it. We
wouldn't have survived a week in the previous room with that temperature.
The sightseeing began on Wednesday. We went to the city centrum of Sliema, looking for a place to buy bus tickets. Malta is such a familiar place for tourists. Plus many people living there were telling us it is a pretty safe country. We bought the 7 days cards for 21€ each person. We could have been using them for every bus. But there was also a possibility of buying 12 times card for 15€.

We visited Valletta the same day. It is a capital city of Malta. By walking through the city gate we have get to such beautiful places as the Upper Barrakka Gardens or the view at the panorama. There was also a exhibition "Malta in my eyes". That time i've fallen in love with Malta! I really liked the architecture of the museums and the streets.

Almost everyday we were going for a walk at night and almost everynight there were parties at the beach. The city never sleeps, or just starts living at night because days are hot. (I prefer colder countries tho). The hottest month is August and for cold lovers i would recommend time from October to April. It is also better time to take photos because of the smaller number of tourists.
Next day we went for a trip to Gozo- small island 30 minutes by ferry from Malta. We had to go to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal by bus. A two ways ticket to Gozo costed 4,65€. The card (which i described earlier) was also working at Gozo so we were traveling there by bus. We have visited  Marsalforn, Azure window-where was also a quite cool place to swim- and Victoria (Rabat) aka main city of Gozo where is placed Cittadella. Before 8pm we were back at ferry. (Info: Ferry is working 24/7)

Third day was pretty windy and swimming in the ocean wasn't allowed so at the morning we were just laying on the beach. After that we were walking on St. Julian's streets (also my mum found an office). We had eaten yummy pasta for dinner and bought some souvenirs. Later we were back in the centrum of Sliema and we did some shopping. I also found a cool souvenirs shop and to get there we had to walk through beautiful streets of Malta.
Next morning we took a bus to Mdina- the silent city. It is a lovely place for photoamateurs. We were walking inside this fortified city and i had planned a trip to the Buskett Gardens but the buses were rarely touring and it was already 3pm. We didn't want to stuck there with no bus to home. So we chose to go find the catacumbs. An older lady in the church helped us and by donating to the charity we had got a map. What about this woman- her english was so maltese that we barely understood her. For our unluck it was Saturday and at that time the catacumbs were closed. So we were just walking. I found an amazing, lovely and so much green street that it was hard not to fall in love!  While our visit there we tried the maltese snack which i would like to eat with a glass of milk. Qaghaq tal ghasel (because that's how it's called) was too dry for me, but still tasty.

On saturday which was our fifth day we spent half time in the ocean or on the beach and we burned from the sun. It wasn't a cool feeling tho. I really wanted to see a sunset on the Malta so we took a bus to Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha. Golden Bay is probably the most popular bay. There were so many people-in my opinion- too many. My parents stayed in the some kind of restaurant called The Apple's Eye while i was walking and taking photos (so typical). Later we ate dinner there and i decided to go to Ghajn Tuffieha. It's also a bay but to get there you have to walk 200 steps down. I chose the second way and if you want to see more then choose it too. The sunset was beautiful (you know, just like all sunsets) but worth it. The bus to home was full of people. But happily we've found seats because the road to Sliema was very long. After seeing the sunset i decided to watch the sunrise. When i woke up before 6am i was suprised that the sun woke up with me in front of the hotel's door.
The same day we've visited Valleta again because we took a bus to Marsaxlokk. It was such a cute town, where we've tasted mussels with white vine. The waiter from Cafe De Paris told us some new things about Malta like what they do for living and what to try there. So their main thing is tourism and agriculture. They are also selling a drink called Kinnie mainly to Australia. And now i also know that they have tasty potatoes. We almost missed a bus to the hotel and we had to run to the next bus stop. (Btw if you want a bus to stop you have to wave to the driver).

Our very last day was kinda lazy. We left bags in the hotel and we went to the Park at the Triq it-Torri. There was a big sculpture of a cat. It was hot and we didn't want to do anything so we spent most of the time there, sitting, observing people or just like me-taking photos. I have even taken a nap. We went for a short walk through the streets and did some shopping. At 6pm we had a bus to the airport. Before our plane came, i had watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S's episode and played on the piano at the duty-free zone. After midnight we were back in Poland.

I really liked Malta and i still have a lot of things to visit there. This trip costed us about 500euro per person with transport, hotel and food but it all depends of the current prizes.

Next post will be about Norway, but not only.:)
Hope you liked this one: comment your thoughts etc. and i'll know what to change or keep.
